CRITT BOIS was set up in 1986 to help companies in the wood industry develop. It is based on the campus of the École Nationale Supérieure des Technologies et Industries du Bois (ENSTIB) in Épinal (88). The aim of CRITT Bois is to promote, develop and implement technology transfer in companies, by meeting their needs in relation to research work in the wood sector, through studies, expert appraisals, tests and collaborative contracts.
Our skills and technological resources are available to companies looking for expertise, specific development or characterisation of wood-based materials and products: Species recognition, physical properties, resistance to wood-destroying fungi and moulds, identification of wood-deteriorating fungi, determination of biocidal molecules, research into contaminants, application of finishes, accelerated ageing, VOC emissions, etc. We support you in your R&D processes (state of the art, feasibility studies, validation tests, etc.) and help you to design, set up, monitor and carry out collaborative R&D projects in a wide range of areas: wood welding, wood modification treatments, chemical recovery of wood, bio-based insulation, non-destructive testing methods, etc.
